What's Life without Goals?

What is House?

House is SCOR's Recreation Division.  It is SCOR's philosophy that players develop best when exposed to a variety of teammates and coaches. All team assignments are based on this philosophy. All House coaches are volunteers.  All players wishing to play on a House team need only register for the upcoming season.  There is no "tryout" or evaluation process.  SCOR does supply uniform shirts for all House players

House teams practice one day during the week, at a designated practice time (except PreK, K and 1st Grade who do not have practices). All House games are scheduled on Saturdays between 8 AM and 2 PM, the exceptions being make-ups or Jamborees.

House Coach Information
For Lower House (PreK-1st grade), SCOR relies completely on parent volunteers to coach their team on Saturdays during game day (there are no weekly practices for this age group). For 2nd grade through high school, a professional coach, assigned through Team Excel, leads the weekly practice. The practice session is held for one hour one time a week. The practice curriculum is determined by SCOR's Director of Coaching, Phil Bergen.  Parent volunteer coaches lead the team during games on Saturdays and are highly encouraged to attend the practices during the week to assist the professional coaches.

In the pursuit of its commitment to excellence, SCOR is heavily dependent on members willing to share of themselves. If you are interested in volunteering your time as a coach, assistant coach, manager of a team, or in any other way, please contact us.

All players MUST, in practice and in game play, wear shin guards and soccer shoes. Sneakers are acceptable footwear in PreK & K only. The SCOR/CJSA player insurance is only 100% applicable for players wearing proper equipment. As representatives of SCOR on the field, Coaches and Managers must enforce this safety requirement. In addition, players should bring water, a bag to put their things in (optional), and a soccer ball appropriate to their Division.

Ball Sizes:

  • #3 for Pre-K, K and 1st Grade
  • #4 for 2nd to 6th Grade
  • #5 for 7th Grade and above

For the safety of all players, jewelry is not allowed during practice and play.

Recreation Plus

 (3rd/4th through High School)

Rec Plus is an extension of the House Program.  The primary difference between Rec Plus and House is the travel element, level of competition, and team composition.  Our Rec Plus teams may travel up to 50% of the time.  While Rec Plus is a part of House, we have found the competition to be higher than in House's younger divisions.  In the league, many Rec Plus players have both Travel and House experience.  Also, Rec Plus allows up to 4 travel players per team.  We have had travel players join us for games and practice.  In these instances, both the travel and Rec Plus player have benefited.

Rec Plus is offered in 3rd/4th grade through High School. Ridgefield Rec Plus teams may play a Rec Plus team from Wilton, New Canaan, Westport, Darien, Rowayton, Weston, Newtown.

Ridgefield's Rec Plus teams are lead by professional coaches during the weekly practice.  Parent coaches and managers are needed to lead the team during the Saturday games.  We look to assign one team manager and at least one team coach.

All games are scheduled on Saturdays.  Generally speaking, the higher grades are scheduled late morning and early afternoon.  Game schedules are prepared by volunteer Rec Plus League Directors.  The directors are from the participating towns. All information regarding games (time, location, etc.) is found on the SWD CJSA site at This should be your go-to place for game information.

House practices are normally held on Monday, Wednesday or Friday; the Rec Plus teams follows this same schedule.

Individual clubs have organized soccer jamborees for teams within the division.  Various formats have been used.  All jamborees are held in one day and usually extend for 3-4 hours.
